Cambridge University Hockey Club

CUHC Logo_edited.png

CUHC is recognised as the biggest and most successful amalgamated University sports club in Cambridge, running four Men’s and four Women’s teams. Our Men’s Blues and our Women’s Blues compete at the highest level of regional hockey in both domestic and inter-university competitions, but nothing is more important than the Varsity Matches against Oxford. This year both the Men’s and Women’s Blues have young and exciting squads with our Women looking to defend their 4-0 victory in 2024 while the Men look for revenge following a very tight 1-0 loss last year.

CUHC Alumni & The Vann Club

History

The Vann Club is the club for CUHC alumni. The club is named in honour of Lt. Col. The Rev Bernard William Vann who received a Cambridge hockey Blue in 1910. Lt. Col. The Rev Bernard William Vann was the only ordained clergyman of the Church of England to win the Victoria Cross in the Great War as a combatant.

About the Vann Club

The purpose of the Vann Club is to form a large community of alumni who help to keep CUHC on a stable financial footing so generations of future students can experience and enjoy CUHC as much as we have. Vann Club members will benefit from special offers, priority and group bookings for alumni events and hopefully even some exclusive stash! More work will be done in the coming years to engage with CUHC alumni and we expect the Vann Club to be at the heart of this.

Joining the Vann Club

The Vann Club is open to all former university hockey players at Cambridge: Women’s and Men’s Blues, Wanderers and Nomads, Squanderers and Beds, and, of course, the Blunderers and Rovers. We recommend current players join when they leave Cambridge.
